Sustainability
At Storm Flowers Garden, the environment is at the heart of what we do. Our business was formed out of a love of gardening and the outdoors, and we want to ensure that we operate in a way that minimises our impact on the environment as much as possible.
Made in the UK
We are committed to sourcing and producing products made in the UK. Not only does this allow us to support small businesses and local creatives but reduces their impact as they travel a shorter distance to reach us.
Recyclable packaging
Our packaging is 100% plastic free.
We use recyclable cardboard packing boxes to wrap our orders, along with paper bubble wrap and Ecoflo loose fill chips made from 100% biodegradable and compostable corn starch. The packing chips are manufactured from GM free sustainable raw materials in a low energy process and dissolve in water.
We stamp our packaging by hand with a natural eco rubber stamp made in London by Get Stamped, with an environmentally sourced oak handle.
The individual wraps on our soap bars are printed on environmentally accredited paper stock with vegetable-based inks and are 100% recyclable.
Measuring our impact on the environment
We have joined Blue Patch, the UK’s Sustainable Business Directory, to help us reduce our impact on the environment as part of their LET’S DO NET ZER0 programme. This process involves collecting our energy bills for one year alongside recording our direct and indirect emissions.
Why do this? If we understand our business’s carbon emissions, we can make informed decisions about carbon reduction. The data collected will act as a baseline from which we can measure and reduce our carbon footprint.
We have recently joined Live Frankly, the media platform with a focus on ethical and sustainable living. Brands in the Live Frankly directory go above-and-beyond in the work they do, proving business can be done differently.
Storm Flowers London
Storm Flowers Garden is part of Storm Flowers London, an independent SME Florist based in Soho. We also operate from our warehouse in Southwark, where we have joined the community of 160 businesses taking action on climate change in Southwark. Working with the Southwark Climate Collective, we are focussing on minimising our waste production and reducing our carbon emissions. We are working to set an emissions reduction target to achieve within a 12 month timeframe.
Storm Flowers London is partnered with Treeapp, a global tree planting organisation. For every Christmas tree we sell, we are committed to planting 5 trees around the globe to help offset our carbon emissions.
We are just at the start of our journey. Watch this space to see our progress.
